(re)installing Premiere

Life Lesson #4,562 YOU CANNOT REPROGRAM THE BIOS. Hard drive wiped. It's all better now, 'cept I have to re-install everything. I use a DC10+ to capture (it's not good, but it beats the hell out of the Studio400), and Premiere 6.0 to edit. Are there any suggestions or tips on installing the two programs so that they will work at least 66 percent of the time?

What is happening precisely?

This is ambient information.

Studio DC10 is a good card. Except my version has no sound inputs where as the instruction manual shows an area for jumper cables.

Jumper cables are ity bity little wires inside the tower.

There is a difference between installing an AGP and a PCI card after a disk wipe, at least on my computer.

In that, if you do a factory restore or an Fdisk with a non indiginous AGP videocard you have to fight your way through the start up screens and user agreements.

There are ways around this.

However if your programs are crashing after this particulair set of problems.

That is, if the card is installed and the software has been loaded but crashes during
the production process or does not seem to work consistintly it could be a variety of things.

A wide vast variety!

Start with finding your factory homesite online.

Look for patches specific to your software and system.

Although some things you are used to may change if they have caused two problems by solving one.

The same holds true for your card.

Be cautious about downloading the "new Version" on a trial basis.

If the factory downloads do not work or only solve part of the problem, contact them.


Software should not crash because you press a button out of sequence!!!!

If you are loosing files try saving and producing more often and creating your own file structure.
C:/MOVIE 1/MOVIE SET/STORAGE.....

I can not get a factory opinion on this subject.

This could go on for hours.
